Course Structure

A total of nine (9) units are required to complete this qualification; five (5) core and four (4) elective units. Unit selection may vary dependent on delivery method and location.

Insight Training will consider various factors when deciding which students will be offered places in the program. These may include:

  • Needs and desired outcomes
  • Ability and commitment to complete the course

  • Minimum school certificate or equivalent

If you are planning to work with vulnerable people or with children, you are required to have a working with children’s check and a police background clearance. There may also be vaccination requirements if you plan to work in Aged Care settings.

Training is a responsibility shared by the training provider, employer and trainee.

Training Provider
As your training provider, Impact Training is responsible for providing formal training and assessment to trainees. They must be registered, use the correct training package, and collaborate on a training plan with the employer and trainee. They should also refer to the guidelines for VET training Providers and logins for RTOs.

Employer
Employers are responsible for providing workplace training and allowing time for formal training for trainees. They should also provide training records from the Registered Training Organisation (RTO) to assist with assessments. Responsibilities also include training trainees at work.

Trainee
Trainees are required to attend formal training and make satisfactory progress toward their qualification. All responsibilities can be found on the Skills NSW website.

Work in Community Services involves supporting and assisting individuals and families in need. This can include:

  • Helping people with disabilities
  • Providing aged care services
  • Supporting disadvantaged individuals or families
  • Working in community development programs

Community Services professionals may also work in mental health support, youth services, and crisis intervention.
