Course Structure

To achieve a Diploma of Community Services (Focus on Mental Health), a total of twelve (12) units must be successfully completed comprising of twelve (12) core and eight (8) elective units.

Work Placement Requirements

To be assessed as competent in this qualification, students are required to complete 200 hours of supervised work placement with an approved community services workplace. Evidence provided by the supervisor will contribute to the assessment of the student’s ability to work at this level.

Course Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements for this qualification. It is preferred that the students have obtained a minimum of a School Certificate or equivalent.

You can discuss your delivery and assessment requirements with your Insight Training VET Teacher, and, where possible, alternate delivery/assessment strategies can be provided which may include components of on-the-job, off-the-job, assignments, distance education and e-learning. Learners’ Guides and course support material are available for all units.

Work in Community Services involves supporting and assisting individuals and families in need. This can include helping people with disabilities, providing aged care services, supporting disadvantaged individuals or families, and working in community development programs. Community Services professionals may also work in mental health support, youth services, and crisis intervention.

Students may be eligible for state and/or federal funding as a loan or a subsidy towards your course. It’s best to speak directly with the Insight Training admissions or student support team to explore the financial aid options available and determine your eligibility.
