Ellen, a graduate of the CHC43315 Certificate IV in Mental Health with Insight Training, shares how she transitioned from a long career in the mining industry to a rewarding new path in mental health.

After years working in mining, Ellen felt a growing pull toward helping others, particularly those facing mental health challenges. When the time came for a change, she found that Insight Training’s course offered the perfect mix of flexibility, structure, and meaningful content.

Ellen says the course materials were incredibly well-designed, offering deeper insights than she expected. The clear instructions and supportive trainers made studying online straightforward and engaging. “The trainer was incredible,” she says. “He was always just a phone call or email away whenever I needed help, and that kind of support was consistent across the whole team.”

Now working with a local organisation in Rockingham, Ellen continues to apply what she learned every day - drawing on her notes and training to better understand and support her clients. Her advice for anyone considering the course is simple: “If you’re thinking about doing this course - do it.”

Ash, a graduate of the CHC43315 Certificate IV in Mental Health with Insight Training, shares her journey of studying mental health and how the flexibility of online learning made it possible to balance study, work, and family life.

Looking for a course that was mostly online, Ash found the perfect fit, a fully online program with evening classes that worked around her busy schedule. As a support worker, parent, and weekend language student, she appreciated the flexibility of being able to study at her own pace.

When joining the first Zoom class, Ash was nervous and unsure what to expect, but quickly found a welcoming and supportive learning community. The course, she says, really opened her eyes to so many different things — about people, culture, and compassion. She learned not only from the course content but also from the diverse and inspiring people she met along the way.

Steven, a Level 2 ASD professional and current Diploma of Community Services student with Insight Training, has progressed through multiple qualifications, starting with a Community Services Skill Set and completing the CHC43315 Certificate IV in Mental Health.

Encouraged by his mother, who works for the Autism Association of WA, Steven was inspired to help others navigate autism and mental health challenges. He says Insight’s structure and online learning platform made studying clear and achievable.

“With Insight, it was like - we’re doing this on this day, and finishing by this day. You understood what was going on. The online portal is easy to navigate, and you can see what’s left to do. It’s just far more transparent,” he explains.

Steven describes his experience as “very close to flawless,” crediting the flexibility and independence that suited his self-driven approach.

Now working with Good Sammies in work mentorship, Cahoots in high-needs care, and Lifeline for suicide prevention, Steven applies his training every day to make a difference in people’s lives.

“Fast forward to today,” he says, “I’m doing what I love - helping people and continuing to learn more every day.”

Nicole, a former student at Insight Rockingham, had extensive experience in childcare education, working for many years at a childcare centre. However, a serious health scare - a mini-stroke - prompted her to reconsider her career path. Seeking guidance, Nicole visited her job provider and was presented with several options. She chose to pursue a CHC30221 Certificate III in School Based Education Support, a decision that would significantly shape her future.

Nicole found her training experience at Insight Training transformative, largely thanks to her trainer, Bec. From the start, Bec's passion and support made a lasting impression, creating an engaging and approachable learning environment. Nicole appreciated the practical exercises, such as role plays and scenarios, which allowed her to apply classroom knowledge to real-world situations. The combination of familiar content from her life experiences and new, targeted skills equipped her well for a school setting.

The skills Nicole gained during her training proved invaluable during her work placement at a primary school. These experiences allowed her to handle various challenges, blending her prior childcare knowledge with new expertise tailored to the school environment. Nicole's journey highlights the resilience and transformative power of dedicated training and support, showing how quality education and passionate educators can lead to a rewarding new career.

Alanah, currently in the final stages of a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care while also working full-time at Goodstart Early Learning, began her journey with a CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care. Motivated by a desire to enhance her skills and take on more responsibilities, Alanah was encouraged by her Centre Director to pursue further training. She was introduced to Insight Training, a program that had already been beneficial to other trainees at her centre.

Throughout her Diploma course, Alanah received significant support from her trainer, Tash. Describing Tash as amazing, Alanah appreciated her constant assistance and encouragement. Balancing a full-time job with her studies proved challenging, but Tash was always available through various means - Teams meetings, centre visits, emails, and calls - to provide the necessary guidance and support. Alanah also credited her Centre Director for pushing her to persevere.

Alanah strongly advocates for others who have a passion for childcare to pursue their qualifications, emphasising the positive impact they can have on children's lives. She particularly recommends Insight Training and highlights Tash's exceptional support throughout the process, encouraging anyone interested to follow a similar path.

Shannon, who once ran a residential cleaning business without much passion, discovered her true calling in education. Initially, she studied for a Certificate III in Community Services but found greater satisfaction in the CHC30221 Certificate III in School Based Education Support, where she enjoys working with children.

Shannon praises the exceptional support from her trainer, Bec, who she describes as approachable and fun-loving, making the experience feel like having a friend by her side. Additionally, she highlights the positive and bubbly atmosphere at Insight, comparing it to being part of a big, fun family.
